Situated on the banks of the Ottawa River, the Windmill Development Group’s Zibi project is one of Ottawa’s largest urban redevelopment projects in recent memory. This unique project, spanning both the City of Ottawa and the City of Gatineau, includes residential, commercial, and communal elements.
Windmill trusted Miller McConnell Signs with all of their signage needs for their Zibi redevelopment project because of our reputation as Ottawa’s premier sign company. They needed a custom sign company that is creative, adaptable, and fast. Zibi also needed a company with a tremendous amount of experience with project management and problem-solving. Naturally, they came to Miller McConnell Signs.
Goals and Objectives
Windmill approached Miller McConnell Signs with three goals for the Zibi project:
1) Develop a creative approach to wayfinding that uses existing infrastructure where possible to support high-impact signage directing traffic to the Sales Centre from both the Ottawa and the Gatineau sides of the property;
2) In keeping with the sustainability aspect of the Zibi development, signage solutions should incorporate materials that are eco-friendly; and
3) Maximize the value of the signage.
Results
This unique redevelopment project unites two provinces, two cities, and included the involvement of National Capital Commission. A project of this size and magnitude involved tight deadlines and unforeseen challenges, but Miller McConnell Signs came through and exceeded expectations.
“I just wanted to say a most sincere thank you to you all for your commitment to our Zibi project. The launch would not have looked as great as it did were it not for your extra ‘above and beyond’ efforts, patience, creativity, and quality assurance. I could not be more pleased with the full experience of working with you both and your team. Never, in my 17 years of working with sign companies, have I encountered such a professional team. I will most certainly be recommending you to anyone looking for sign solutions and a great team.
“I felt like you were true partners in this and look forward to continuing to work with you as the project grows.” – Karen Moores, Blackiron Agency, General Manager
