Formerly The Ottawa Optometric Clinic, EyeDocs hired Miller McConnell Signs to install new signage for a complete rebrand of their company. We worked in tandem with EyeDocs and the marketing firm responsible for the rebrand to determine the best signage product and installation schedule to make the company’s rebirth a smooth and enjoyable process.
Scope of Work
Miller McConnell Signs was hired to install exterior, low-voltage LED signage for all five EyeDocs locations in Ottawa — Preston, Kilborn, Riverside, Westboro and Kanata. The project started in April 2014 and these installations took place over a 5 week period.
Once the rebranded building signs were installed, Miller McConnell Signs was also hired to install new window treatments at all five locations. This completed the exterior rebranding of the new EyeDocs clinics.
The client’s biggest concern was a smooth and prompt unveiling of their new EyeDocs brand across all five location in Ottawa. This meant that Miller McConnell Signs has to work quickly and efficiently, and match the design vision perfectly across all locations to create a cohesive brand identity.
Challenges and Solutions
When installing the branded window graphics, we discovered that the original material we planned to install did not have the desired impact and visual appeal that we needed. The original goal was to install a high-end window treatment that looked great from the outside and complemented the new EyeDocs brand. As it turned out, our original material was too translucent and didn’t provide the desired result.
Miller McConnell went back to the lab to try a variety of different materials and installation options to match the EyeDocs vision. In the end, we came up with a new concept and material that matched and exceeded the design expectations.
Both EyeDocs and the design team were absolutely thrilled with the results of Miller McConnell’s installations. The new EyeDocs signs now have a uniquely visible presence across the city, creating a cohesive brand identity.
