Miller McConnell Signs was approached by Bruyère Continuing Care during their five-year expansion of the Residence Saint-Louis retirement home in Orleans. This expansion included two brand new, state-of-the-art retirement home facilities along the Ottawa river.
This engagement with Bruyère Continuing Care was another highlight project in a long relationship between our two companies that dates back to the late 1990s. We are always very happy and proud to offer our services to the great people at Bruyère.
Scope of Work
Bruyère hired our team to produce and install interior and exterior signs at the second new retirement facility of this expansion project – Place Besserer. The scope of work for this project included producing and installing exterior directional and parking signage based on a third-party wayfinding system design. We also produced and installed all interior signage throughout the residence, including door signs, directional signs, room signs and directory boards.
Challenges and Solutions
Sometimes, when installing exterior signage, the weather can work against you in powerful ways. That was the case with the Place Besserer exterior sign installations, which all had to be installed into cement footings during the final days of fall before winter. The result was a race against the clock to finish the installation of all the signs before the winter cold, snow and freeze set in. Using cement conditioners to prevent freezing, and performing the installations on many freezing and snowing days, the team at Miller McConnell Signs finished just in the nick of time.
After putting the pedal to the metal, Miller McConnell Signs finished the project before the onset of winter, completing the installations on-time and on-budget. This resulted in a very happy client, and a beautiful new retirement residence that was ready to open for business.
